Juniper switch end-of-life & support dates

Check the exact EX switch in your closet. Last-order dates, engineering deadlines and final support dates belong to specific SKUs—not an entire generation of switches.

Checked September 16, 2026 · Juniper EX register updated July 30, 2026

EX2300 hardware has a September 30, 2026 last-order date. Support is scheduled through September 30, 2031. For EX4300, check the suffix: the listed P/T and 32F models end support in March 2029, while the 48MP runs through December 2031.

* Not listed: Juniper’s historical table uses warranty-conversion and same-day/next-day support columns. It does not provide an end-of-engineering column for these rows. We have not relabeled those older milestones as engineering dates. Check the linked bulletin for details.

An EX4200-24P and an EX4200-24PX have different deadlines. The original 24P/48P models ended support in June 2018. The listed PX and T models ended support in June 2024. Use the whole SKU when checking an inventory or a used-equipment quote.

Read the right deadline

Ordering, engineering and support are different milestones.

01 · Buying

Last order

The published ordering cutoff. A switch may have several years of support after this date. Check availability and the exact SKU before placing a final expansion order.

02 · Software

End of engineering

A separate engineering milestone appears in Juniper’s newer notices. Check the bulletin and Junos release policy for the software coverage you need.

03 · Support

End of support

The hardware lifecycle endpoint. Plan migration around this date, your contract expiration and the time needed to validate the replacement.

A common source of confusion

Does the EX3400 have a 2024 end-of-support date?

The November 20, 2024 entries for B-EX3400-24P-3S-E and similar bundles belong to the Sky Enterprise SaaS retirement notice. They do not establish that the standalone EX3400 switch hardware ended support on that date.

The EX register reviewed for this page does not list a standalone EX3400 hardware retirement notice. Confirm the exact switch and service SKU with Juniper before buying or renewing. This is a statement about the register we checked, not a guarantee of future availability.

Software & cloud management

Mist compatibility does not extend a hardware deadline.

Juniper lists supported EX platforms in its Mist supported-hardware guide. Use it to check onboarding and software requirements alongside the lifecycle notice. A switch appearing in Mist’s compatibility list is not a promise of indefinite hardware support.

The newer EX notices also list a final software version: 25.4 for EX2300 and EX4300-48MP, and 21.4 for EX4300-32F and EX4600. These register entries are not patch recommendations. Confirm the appropriate maintenance release and upgrade path with Juniper for your model and deployment.

Build the refresh around the whole closet.

Inventory every member and module. Record switch SKUs, Virtual Chassis members, uplinks, optics, power supplies and installed Junos versions. For chassis systems, check the individual components as well as the system bundle.

Validate the replacement design. Compare PoE capacity, multigigabit access, uplink speeds, redundancy and management requirements. Budget for optics, licensing, installation and a tested migration window—not just the switch.

Decide who will operate it. Compare a Juniper refresh with a managed network proposal that clearly assigns monitoring, configuration changes, replacements and future refreshes. Start with our Juniper Mist overview or Juniper Mist alternatives.

Common questions

Juniper switch end of life, answered

When does the Juniper EX2300 reach end of life?

The listed EX2300 hardware SKUs have a last-order date of September 30, 2026, end of engineering on September 30, 2029, and end of support on September 30, 2031. Match your exact SKU to the vendor notice.

When does EX4300 support end?

The listed EX4300 P/T and 32F hardware models end support on March 31, 2029. EX4300-48MP ends support on December 29, 2031. There is no single hardware deadline for every EX4300 variant.

Are EX2200 and EX3300 switches still supported?

The EX2200 and EX3300 hardware SKUs listed in this table reached end of support on June 30, 2024.

Did EX3400 hardware support end in November 2024?

The November 20, 2024 entries discussed here apply to Sky Enterprise service bundles. They do not establish the standalone EX3400 hardware deadline. Check the exact SKU with Juniper; the EX register reviewed for this page does not list a standalone EX3400 hardware retirement notice.

Does a Mist subscription change an EX switch’s end-of-support date?

Do not treat Mist compatibility or a subscription as an extension of the hardware lifecycle. Check the exact hardware notice, Junos support and service entitlement together.

Why are some end-of-engineering dates missing?

The historical section of Juniper’s register has different columns, including warranty conversion and same-day and next-day support deadlines. It does not list an engineering date for those rows, so this page leaves that milestone unspecified.

Sources & scope

Verified against Juniper’s EX register.

We checked the EX Series Hardware Dates & Milestones register on September 16, 2026. It displayed a July 30, 2026 update date. Each table row links to the corresponding Juniper bulletin; some bulletin details may require a support login.

This page covers selected EX hardware SKUs, not every switch, module, bundle or accessory. QFX switches, SRX firewalls and Mist access points need separate lifecycle lookups. A missing row does not establish that a model has no announced deadline.

Juniper changed its tracked milestones in July 2024. We preserve that distinction: historical support-service dates are not substituted for engineering dates. Dates here are a reference snapshot, not a live feed. Confirm revisions and entitlement with Juniper before a purchase, renewal or migration. See our editorial methodology.
